About Jointing Sand The jointing of the concrete block paving is a small part of the cost but vitally important in the pavement’s performance and life-expectancy. The angular structure of the component sand provides good frictional interlock between the sand particles and the adjacent concrete block paving. The
organic active ingredient is water activated and remains self healing to withstand the thermal movement or settlement of the
sub-base materials. Paverlock Jointing Sand can be continually dried and re-wetted, to cope with a typical UK climate, but
it still retains its performance characteristics, unlike other synthetic or polymeric materials which activate only once,
to produce a rigid structure. Paverlock Jointing Sand complies with the relevant requirements of BS7533:
Part 3 – Code of practice for laying precast concrete paving blocks and clay pavers for flexible pavements. Usages, on the basis of no waste: 50mm joint depth – approx 282m2 per tonne 60mm joint depth – approx 235m2 per tonne 80mm joint depth – approx 176 m2 per tonne
